Healthy Living Week
Healthy Living Week Day 1
Healthy Living Week – Day 2
On Tuesday the 10th May, two Gardaí came into the school to highlight the dangers of the internet and also strangers! We have all been enlightened on the risks posed by social networking sites e.g. Facebook and You Tube. They told us people on the internet may not be who they say they are.
Also we were informed about Stranger Danger. We may dismiss it but sometimes children are coaxed into cars and are abducted. If we are to be approached, we must say NO, get away and tell someone.
So that has concluded the second day of healthy living week which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Healthy Living Week – Day 3
Today Mary Perryman touched on the issues of personal hygiene and the importance of a balanced diet. She explained that danger of Red Bull and drinks with high sugar and caffine contents. She also explained that eating between meals causes cavities and tooth decay.
She said that showering daily is beneficial for us and others.
The third day of healthy living week was as interesting as the previous two days.
Healthy Living Week – Day 4
Today a pilates instructor named Aideen came in to give us a demonstration. Although we found the stretching quite strenuous, we all learned the benefits of stretching when aiming to improve our general fitness.
Healthy Living Week – Day 5
Today we ventured down to the North Bull Island. It was eventful and we got more than we bargained for or in other words, we got lashed on! We decided to lift our spirits by half singing/half shouting this years Eurovision songs!
We saw lots of marine life incluing seals and crabs. At first we hiked in the sun through the dunes and on the way back we stopped halfway to have a picnic and some of the boys played games.
This walk certainly lived up to the standards set by last year’s walk in Glendalough. This along with many other things we will remember as we face leaving Belgrove!
